8 GOLDEN TIPS TO LIVING A HEALTHY LIFE

As we recognize World Health Day on 7th April 2024, Siloam hospital would like to share with you 8 GOLDEN tips to living a healthy life.

1. EAT A BALANCED DIET: Focus on consuming plenty of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains. Lean protein sources like fish, chicken, and beans are also important for building and maintaining muscles. Limit unhealthy fats, processed foods, added sugar, and salt.

2. SIT LESS, MOVE MORE: Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity each week. Strength training exercises that work all major muscle groups are also recommended at least twice a week.

3. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY WEIGHT: Being overweight or obese increases your risk for many chronic diseases, such as heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes.

4. GET ENOUGH SLEEP: Most adults need 7-8 hours of sleep per night. Sleep deprivation can impair your thinking, judgment, and mood, and can also increase your risk for chronic health problems.

5. MANAGE STRESS: Chronic stress can take a toll on your physical and mental health. Find healthy ways to manage stress, such as exercise, relaxation techniques, and spending time in nature.

6. AVOID SMOKING: Smoking is a leading cause of preventable death. If you smoke, quitting is the single best thing you can do for your health.

7. LIMIT ALCOHOL CONSUMPTION: Excessive alcohol consumption can lead to a number of health problems, including liver damage, heart disease, and cancer.

8. VISIT YOUR DOCTOR FOR REGULAR CHECK-UPS: Even if you feel healthy, it's important to see your doctor for regular checkups. This allows your doctor to screen for potential health problems and monitor your overall health.
